After graduating from UC Berkeley's College of Environmental Design, I worked as an environmental planner and freelance journalist/radio personality for a number of years. Wanting to experience seasons and snowfall, in 2003 I moved to Europe, where I lived for more than a decade, facilitated by my dual British-American nationality and language skills in French and Spanish. I first worked as a journalist in Prague and after that, in London. I then was employed in Brussels, Belgium working in communications in the environmental NGO/non-profit sector. It was in this rainy country where I gained my passion for and expertise in climate change, knowledge of the inner workings of the European Union and its climate and energy laws, familiarity with advocacy work as well as a burning desire to return to the California sunshine. I now live in Los Angeles and am working for local government on outreach for implementation of different aspects of California's ground-breaking climate legislation, including mandatory commercial and organics recycling.
